This site, free to use but requires registraion, is a good source to connect with other writers in all geners. They have a lot of community based forums to talk about your work. You can also be a beta reader, provide critiques for others, and have others review your work.

Scribophile is one of the largest and most award-winning online writing communities.
The following sites I have not used. I have looked at them and saved them as they seemed to be helpful. Make sure to review them before registering and paying any fees.

Story Genesis provides free random generators and other ideas for making books, short stories, plays, movies, T.V shows, and other creative media.
Site contains a lot of different generators. Appears to be geared towards role playing games, also fits in well with writing.
